Heritage Day Fun

What a fun day spend with special people for a special cause…

I spend my Heritage Day with Toys for Africa as a Proud Ambassador. The event was hosted at the Centurion Lifestyle Centre Pretoria. The day was filled with fun and laughter. A new World Record was set of 999 Tyre Flips with a 100kg tyre for Joost van Der Westhuizen. Well done Chris Batts and Chris Liebenberg on completing this in 1 hour 5 min. There was a few who did the #ALSicebucketchallenge with the aim to raise awareness of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) affecting so many people across the world including our own Legend Joost van der Westhuizen.

Once again I came to realize while meeting Joost that we so often take our health for granted. We must be so thankful for being alive and healthy. Never ever take your health or one day of your life for granted. You have one life live every single day to its full potential. To see Joost with a smile on his face touched my heart and I was so thankful and honored to be there in the moment.

Take every opportunity to meet new people and to touch lives. It was great making “new friends” and I look forward to see some at the next upcoming event.

Then last but not least my personal highlight of the day once again…Joost you are such an inspiration and a True Legend for ever like I said to you yesterday. You inspire me to take life on with both hands and to live life to the fullest. I pray that the Lord will touch you through this journey and that you will be clothed with hope & strength every single day. Always have that “Priceless” smile on your face.

New world record on Heritage Day

Heritage Day was celebrated with a new world record and much more at the Centurion Lifestyle Centre.

Heritage Day was celebrated with ice bucket challenges and tyre flip world records at the Centurion Lifestyle Centre on Wednesday.

Chris Batts and Chris Liebenberg established a new world record for flipping a tyre 999m in honour of Heritage Day.

The day was arranged by Toys for Africa, who is currently on a mission to hand a new toy to every underpriviledged child in South Africa and later Africa itself. To date over 131 400 children have benefited from this passion.

Joost van der Westhuizen attended the event with his family, while various guests took part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge for Joost’s J9 Foundation.

Other celebraties who attended the event were current Mr. SA, John Owens, the Houlson twins, tyre flipping record holder Chris Batts and many more.

The event also provided the opportunity for PHASA to donate thousands of pens to underpriviledged children to be able to write their exams this year.

The beneficiaries included secondary schools situated in Olievenhoutbosch, including Olievenhoutbosch Secondary School and Walter Sisulu Secondary School.

According to Danie van Loggerenberg, spokesperson for Toys for Africa, the focus of the day was on Grade 12 pupils specifically, with the upcoming final exams around the corner.
